Phase Five has been working closely with Praja ( an NGO working towards an accountable government through peoples' participation since its inception in 1998) in their efforts to facilitate active citizenship and accountability of public offices.Phase Five has researched and put together information for the the Citizens' Charter which is a user-friendly booklet for the people to use towards complaint redressal, with respect to the services of the civic departments of the Brihan-Mumbai Municipal Corporation.We have been making presentations to various citizens' groups to promote The Online Complaint Monitoring System (OCMS) set up by Praja and the Brihan-Mumbai Municipal Corporation, a first of its kind in the world.
Current projects with Praja Foundation include- Research and drafting of a charter that will demistify the Police services and standards for common man and hopefully better the level of cooperation and communication between the police and the public.- Research and drafting of the Right to Information Charter, in the wake of the much needed Right to Information Act being passed in Maharashtra, and how the people can use it effectively to seek information that will help them understand the functioning of the goverment bodies in a simple and transparent way.
